Salty Beards x Surfing with the Homeless from Salty Beards on Vimeo.
The original plan for SaltyBeards.com was to try and help out our local homeless community. We started off by donating 10% of our online store sales towards clothing the homeless. After a few months we've gained great support from people all over the world. Now we have been able to increase the donations to 25%. More recently Salty Beards spent a day in Venice Beach California. We met a man named John who was living on the streets. He see's people surfing everyday but never had the opportunity of trying to catch a few waves for himself. Until now. We rented him a board, gave him some new boardshorts and pushed him into a couple waves. He was beyond thrilled. It was a great experience for both of us. We spent the rest of the afternoon clothing any homeless we came across. Stoked faces all around. - Chris

Welcome to Helping Beards, Salty Beards’ next step towards helping the homeless. Since the beginning, Salty Beards’ goal has been to create an outlet for the less fortunate. Helping Beards is in the process of becomig a legal charity for helping the homeless up and down the California coast. Helping Beards goal is to simply bring some happiness and joy to the homeless communities in California by donating food, clothing,
bottled water, and time to get to know each person.
Sometimes in life, it feels better to give back instead of always taking, and that’s what Helping Beards is all about.

You can join the cause by meeting us at our Helping Beards events held at California beaches starting in 2013. The events schedule will be posted at the beginning of next year so make sure to check back here to find out when and where we will be. In the meantime, you can purchase any item in the Salty Store and we will donate 25% of every sale to local homeless shelters, charities and food drives. You can also help spread the word on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram by tagging your pictures with #helpingbeards. Bring your board, some canned food, and we’ll be helping more beards than ever before. Thank you and stay salty!
